Human factors evidence themes

For technology to be beneficial to aged care, it must be designed and implemented with the needs of its human users in mind. Various human factors, such as an individual’s experience with technology, their level of physical or cognitive ability, and their personal values and preferences for care, may significantly influence the extent to which a new product is accepted and used. From a comprehensive review of the literature on ‘human factors’ and technology in aged care, we identified several recurring themes. We present these here as short summaries of the factors that may influence the adoption and effective use of technology in aged care.
